MyselfIntuition: The Sixth Sense

What is the intuition? How is intuition affecting or life? Can intuition, as your sixth sense, be developed?

Suddenly you feel that you shouldn't accept that job, although you do not know where that feeling comes from. You think about some person; shortly after that person calls you. You know that your child is in some kind of trouble, but you do not know at what kind of trouble. Did you ever have such feelings?

Many people have had. In case that there is no logical explanation for such feelings we usually say that is the intuition. People explain that feeling as inner knowledge or voice from within. Everybody is gifted with intuition until a certain extent, regardless of gender, age, ethnic group etc. The difference is do you believe it. If you do not believe to your intuition, you suppress it and your intuition becomes dormant. If you believe it you are giving your intuition a chance to show up and to develop.

Intuition is a mysterious, not understood enough and never fully accepted. The reason of resistance to recognition of intuition is probably based in the fact that our civilization is based on official science that acknowledges things that can be understood and explained. The things that are not understood by science are rejected or simply declared to be non-existing. But following the intuition can help us to understand unknown things, understand relationships with people or to help us to bring the right decision, within the minute.

What is the intuition and where it comes from? Our brain can be compared with radio that can receive different stations. Some radio stations are louder than the other, therefore we pay more attention to them. Those stations bring us the sensation of sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch. But there is another frequency, another radio station – the intuition. Intuition is our sixth sense.

Information that comes through the intuition is quieter and more subtle. Frequently that information that comes through intuition is muffled by the noise of information that comes through other senses.

The intuition is the birth gift. Everybody is born with intuition, men and women. But the level of development of intuition is not the same for every individual. The intuition is responding at similar way as muscles. If you train your muscles they will be developed. The same is with intuition, if you use and trust to your intuition, you may develop it. Our society, based on analytical facts and science taught us to trust only to our intellect and common sense. That way of thinking diverted us from the power of intuition.

Children are using the intuition very often. They feel and trust to intuition, since they are behaving naturally and instinctively. Unfortunately, while they grow, they are forced to make conclusions based on analytical activity and hard evidence. Therefore, the intuition is being more and more suppressed. Fortunately, the intuition cannot be erased. It can be put to dormant state, but it is still alive. We still can develop our intuition, although we neglected it for years.

How can we develop our intuition? As a start we must allow our heart to participate in making of decisions. We can pay attention to how do we feel while during some activity or decision making. If we do that than we will learn many things. We will learn more about ourselves, about the others and about different situations.

The use of intuition is bringing a certain risks. How will you differentiate what is causing some inspiration; the intuition, wishful thinking or something different? Basically more honest we are, the picture will be clearer. Ability of personal introspective is necessary for differentiation of intuition from other signals. The intuition is not just "listen to your feelings" thing. Feelings are giving us the information, but we must investigate what that feeling really means. Lack of honesty to yourself will cloak the real message sent by your intuition.

If you learn to follow your leading from inside, your life will change. The real success will come if you manage to balance your logic with your intuition. If you manage to develop your intuition, you will have one more tool that will help you in your life. You are discovering new possibilities and becoming more confident. You will discover that intuition, your sixth sense, is more practical than you think. In fact it is very unpractical not to use it.
