Impulsive purchase is the main reason of excessive spending. Impulsive purchase is the bad habit that affects your personal wealth. Impulsive purchase is when you decide to buy something unplanned, in order to feel better on short term. On long term you feel worse, since you spent money or took another bank debt, while you bought something that you really do not need. Are you shoppingolic ( shopaholic )?
Another name for impulse purchase is shopping therapy. "I had a really hard day, I am going to shopping center to buy something to myself" - If you say this than you are really the shoppingholic. You are spending more money than you should, or having another debt, for something that you really do not need. You spend the money for only a moment of pleasure. Tomorrow you may not even take a look at what you have bought just yesterday.
Women are often said to be a shoppinholic/shopaholic. But men can be even worse. Women are taking shopping therapy by buying dresses or make up. Men are undertaking more serious purchase like sport gear, entertainment electronics or car.
Impulsive purchase is giving us a lot of garbage, while the banks and merchants are taking your money. Take a look at you home for the things that you do not use, but those thinks took you a lot of money. Even worse, you may be still paying installments for things that you do not use any more. The lie that has been served to us by advertisers is if we earn a lot we can spend even more. The truth is opposite; the wealthy people are thinking twice before spending. They are not tempted by call of impulsive purchase. They are aware how hard is to make the money. Why should you be a shoppingolic and waste your money away, since it is so difficult to earn it?
If you are exercising the shopping therapy as a way to relieve stress it is very likely that you will even increase stress when you summarize your personal finance situation. The more shopping therapy, the more spending and debts. Consequently the stress is back. Being shoppingholic a really dangerous addiction.
Not only the banks and trade is temptation people for shopping. It is very likely that somebody from your surrounding will influence you, which will make you buy something that you didn't have the need before. This sociological phenomenon is called "keeping up with the Joneses". The Joneses are all around us. That could our friend, a neighbor or somebody from the workplace. When advertiser defeated somebody from your surrounding, you are suddenly found under a pressure to do the same.
As it is obvious, people are more shoppinholic than they would be ready to admit. Shopping therapy is becoming the way of living. Still, our money is earned too hard to be spending so easily. Next time when you go for shopping therapy, think twice before being something that is not a necessity. Do not become shoppinholic just to keep up with the Joneses.
