What
Determines the rate of your
metabolism? How can you speed up
your metabolism?
The
speed of our metabolism is
genetically
determined and is dependent
on your genetic factors and gender. Still, you can do a lot to boost the speed up
your metabolism. Several
recent scientific
discoveries can help
you.

Upon waking up
Have a
breakfast
every day
If you do not breakfast,
your body goes into a mode
of fasting,
so that you metabolism slows
down to conserve energy. Therefore
early meal will do opposite.
In
a study published in the
American Journal of
Epidemiology, volunteers who
were taking
from 22 to 55 percent of
total calories for breakfast
gained an average of 800 g
in a period of four years.
Those who ate up to 11
percent of total calories
for breakfast gained almost
three pounds. In another
study published in the same
journal, the volunteers were
regular skipping
of breakfast
had 4,5 times greater risk
of obesity.

What
should you eat?
In the morning you should eat
breakfast, which is more slowly
digested and leaves you feeling
full. Try a mixture of proteins
with complex carbohydrates and
healthy fats, such as from an
egg omelet
with one whole egg
and two egg whites and half a
cup of peppers and onions, plus
a half cup of cooked oatmeal
mixed with a quarter cup of
frozen berries and spoon omega-3
fish oil.
Drink
coffee
A study published in the journal
Physiology & Behavior found
that the average metabolic rate
of people who drank coffee with
caffeine increased by 16 percent
as opposed to those who drank
decaffeinated coffee. Caffeine
stimulates the central nervous
system increases heart rate and
breathing.
Drink cold water
Researchers from the University
of Utah University found that
people who drink eight glasses
of water a day have higher
metabolic rates than those who
only drink four cups. Your body
can burn calories by
warming up
cold water on its temperature.
At
work
Select proteins for lunch
Proteins in each meal helps
you
build and maintain muscle mass.
Muscles burn more calories than
fat tissue. Target about 30
grams of protein, the equivalent
of about one cup low-fat cottage
cheese, or chicken breasts
without bones, at every meal.
Drink green tea
Green tea contains a substance
which stimulates the fat burn.
In one study, people who
consumed three to five cups a
day during the twelve weeks
reduced their weight by 4,6
percent. According to other
studies, two to four cups of
green tea a day can burn 50
extra calories. In translation -
about 2 kg per year. For maximum
effect, let your tea stay for
three minutes and drink it while
still hot.
Nullify the harmful effect of
dairy products
If you can not resist the baked
potatoes, you can repair damage
to foods rich in calcium, like
milk or low fat yogurt. Calcium
helps the body metabolize fat
more efficiently and increase
the rate at which fat is
released, reports the study
undertaken at the University of
Copenhagen.
