Stress Symptoms

Stress Symptoms             Posted: Oct 2009

What are the stress symptoms? How can you recognize stress symptoms?

Perception of stress is different for every individual. Something can be stress for some person, while it might not be for somebody else. First step in coping with stress is recognizing that you are under a stress and understanding why you under a stress. In order to understand the stress you need to identify the stress symptoms.

These symptoms can be different. It is not the rule that all symptoms will be shown to everybody. However, there are some usual symptoms that can give us the indication and degree of stress. These symptoms are shown through various physical and physical manifestations.

Insomnia or sleep disorder is common indication of exposure to stress. If you are exposed to stressors for some time, it is possible that this will cause different psychical and physical influence to your mind and body. This influence can cause sleep disorder or insomnia. This symptom can be showed through different sleep disorder patterns: difficult to fall a sleep, easy to be interrupted during the sleep, feeling tired upon awake, etc. In some extreme cases total insomnia can occur as the result of intense stress. There are many known examples of people that lost ability to fall asleep as the result of posttraumatic stress caused by some serious life trauma.

Energy level can be jeopardized after you are exposed to stress for some time. If this exposure continue thorough time and intensity, it is possible that your energy level drain out and you may feel the chronic fatigue. This could be caused by two reasons: to much energy exposure during the stress periods and/or inability to fully recover during the periods of the rest.

Food intake disorder can happen during the longer periods of stress exposure. Your feeding patterns can distort. Way of consuming can change, e.g. eating too fast, eating fast food... As the reflection of distorted food intake you may have the problem with digestion.

Other unhealthy habits can occur during stress periods. Beside food intake disorder there are other unhealthy habits like smoking or drinking. Basically any unhealthy behavior can be the result of exposure to stress and general dissatisfaction with the current lifestyle.

Anger and uncontrolled behavior is frequently caused by stress. This is also the matter of personal traits, since not everybody is showing the anger in the same way. But in general, it is likely to expect that anger burst shows at the person in case of exposure to the stress level that is beyond the individual stress capacity.

Skin problems, blood circulation and other physical manifestations can be the result of exposure to the stress. This is even more shown in case of conjunction with other stress symptoms; e.g. food intake disorder and skin problems ( acne ) at same time.

These are the highlights of typical stress symptoms. It is important to recognize them early. Denying the existence of the problem will not make the problem to disappear. The problem and the cause of stress will still stay there. Recognizing the state of stress, identification of symptom and understanding of causes is the precondition for successful coping with stress.
